NGS ‘True Cut’ Copperplate Font Creation:
First thing is to say is I wasn’t a great lover of the Copperplate Font until I was asked to letter a Butcher shop in Angel in 2013. I chose to ‘chisel effect’ the gold leaf lettering and frame it with an antique white outline.
This was the first chiselled letter painted in London for a long while.
BY CHANCE… AN ORIGINAL EXEMPLAR FOUND
Then a few months later I happened to see this wonderful example, in the Crown and Scepter pub, Holland Road below, and it held up Copperplate in a more refined light for me.
Next came ‘Alan Norris’ in white with a gold outline – and a more gracefully chiselled definition.
