NGS Urban Grunge Signwriting
Urban grunge signwriting brings traditional hand-painted signwriting into a more raw, contemporary setting. Developed for independent shops, restaurants, bars, studios, creative spaces and brands looking for something less polished and more individual, this style combines hand lettering, distressed finishes, imperfect edges, layered paint and a deliberately weathered character.
At NGS, the look is still built by hand. We use traditional signwriting techniques alongside custom lettering, painted graphics, ageing, fading, texture and carefully controlled distressing to create signs that feel as though they belong to the building rather than simply being applied to it.
Urban grunge can be bold and graphic, understated and weathered, or developed around the existing character of a wall, shopfront, shutter, brickwork or interior. Each piece is designed specifically for its surroundings, allowing the paintwork, surface and lettering to work together.
