Handcrafted NGS font numerals are individually drawn and refined by hand, offering a level of character, balance, and authenticity that simply cannot be achieved with standard off-the-shelf digital fonts such as Adobe etc.

Inspired by traditional signwriting and historic lettering styles, each number is played and teased into shape by the brush: carefully proportioned to suit the surrounding architecture, scale, retaining detailing from the swept forms of period property or any rare signature context locally.

Way before the letter is painted on site, every curve, serif, stroke width, and spacing detail undergoes dozens of rounds of drafting in the studio, in order to create a finished form that feels correct, timeless, elegant, and aesthetically complete.

Style over fashion ensures that unlike low budget mass-produced vinyl or computer-generated lettering, our restoration fonts retain real craftsmanship that give any NGS design, a rich sensuality and timeless aura. It comes from 3 generations of letter-carving and painting. Our NGS hand-painted lettering has warmth, it’s own voice and resonant iconic distinction.

And when it’s raining, or we are not on site, we’re to be found in the studio drawing, painting, vectorising or writing about our incredible Archive Type Collection, constantly at the work bench, desk or easel.

John Nash was a prominent British architect of the late 18th and early 19th centuries, best known for shaping large parts of London during the Regency era. Born in 1752, he became one of the leading figures of Regency architecture, a style known for its elegance, symmetry, and classical influences.

Now known as ‘the jewel in the crown’ of the Royal Parks, Regent’s Park, NW1.

The work of John Nash had a lasting impact on urban planning and architecture in Britain, helping define the look of Regency London and it’s economy of classical lines to this day.
