NGS’S UNIQUE, HISTORIC PAINT TECHNIQUE, About NGS Ghost Signwriting.
In 1988 I was asked by interior designer Tricia Guild to develop a way of recreating aged yet vibrant Chic paint effects for her collection of faded Spanish, Danish and Dutch furniture.
The client was the darling of the world of interiors, Designers Guild and the range ran for 9 years. It’s influence at DG and in the world marketplace can be seen today.

I created an authentic ageing process using museum restoration techniques and our own specialist and fairly secreted paint tricks.
Just two of us doing this in UK at that time, myself and Chalon Kitchens.

These dramatic ageing techniques were combined with bright bold pallet to make unique fun distressed painted furniture.

Interior design origins of our ‘faux’ antique finishes
Above: The first sample batch delivered to Colin Bissett at Designers Guild in 1988 caused a stir in the industry… Kings Road came alive to this radical finish the Tricia Guild launched with bold pallet and contemporary feel.
We use these same realistic techniques today on our ghost sign lettering.

Nick also creates NGS relic guitar bodies in relic Fender custom shop genre.. The collection has been ordered across the globe since it was launched in 2018 and is one of our custom build NGS passion projects.

Yes this paint finish ran on around the globe with China Accent, QoolTango (Moyo collection Wallpapers, Fabrics, Ceramics below) and Lala Curio. But that’s another fantastic creative story.
