HOW QUICKLY CAN YOU PAINT OUR SIGN?

WE HAVE A FAST TURNAROUND TIMING. INFO IS EVERYTHING
You’ll have quite a few good questions.
We firstly need some start-up information:
- Address: From Camden to Cumbria…
- Measurements: Sign size
- Images of surface and areas
- Design Layouts: any ideas, sketches or architectural drawings
Accurate pricing: Then we can quote you accurately.
Ball-park pricing: is ok but it’s way better to get it right first time without amendments down the line.
START-UP
When we agree costs-to-project, we require a start-up deposit which locks it all in and we can then prepare your designs.

Q. DO YOU PAINT THE SIGN BOARD/BACKGROUND?
OR IS THE QUOTE SPECIFICALLY FOR THE LETTERING?
NGS: Not usually involved in the background painting. We quote for the lettering component and not any supply or general decoration works (unless clearly and obviously stated).
Q. CAN YOU COME AND TAKE A LOOK?
NGS: We may be around the corner from you, but usually we always just ask for images and location first via email or whatsapp. Most of the time we complete design work at distance.
Q. What are your Lead Times?
From 5-14 days – always check in with us as this constantly changes.
Typical Time line:
DEPOSIT IN – DESIGN/DATES CONFIRMED
We are able to quickly respond once we have all info and deposit in.
We aim to hand paint most signage within 5-10 working days.
Gilded or large-scale lettering projects taking around 10-21 working days.
Q. CAN YOU WORK YOUR MAGIC ASAP?
Yep – we have a support team. We can work to tighter deadlines but we can’t do miracles. Just let us know your time scale and we will inform you same day, if it is possible.
NOTE: If your project is subject to delays from your side it will likely void pre-arranged lead times and will require re-scheduling.
Q. WE ONLY HAVE A SMALL HOUSE NUMBER TO COMPLETE…
IS THAT TOO SMALL?
We often paint or gild small projects like house signs and honours board updates, and are happy to do so, so yes that’s all ok. Our minimum London call-out charge is 180.00.
Q. I’M NEEDING TO PAINT THE BACKGROUND OF THE WALL FOR YOUR LETTERING TO GO ON – CAN YOU ADVISE ON MATERIALS AND PROCESS?
We will offer some useful knowledge and also have a preparation page for your reference.

A. We are here to safeguard. But yep stress can creep in making design decisions.
Rest assured we know what is needed along the creative path.
A design for something really important like a start-up business it’s normal to over think details a bit.
We always seem to get things right, because of our deep and wide technical knowledge and experience, and build the trust as we go.
It’s usually quite a lot of fun too!

A. Info is god. We firstly ask for images of the location, then some measurements. From there we will quote you and go on to start-up payment and design first steps.
Step 1 Chat | Images and brief.
Step 2 Cost and deposit.
Step 3 Design and sign off – install date.
Step 4 Install day.
CAN YOU TACKLE REALLY LARGE PROJECTS AND MURALS?
NGS: Yes we can.
We have an experienced design and deliver practice here at NGS who are kept busy everyday servicing large format signs and graphics projects.
We price the component parts clearly so you can see the breakdown of the costs.
We are industry compliant, fully insured, we also can provide RAMS here.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR SMALLEST COMISSION?
Our smallest commission to date was hand painting a number 1 in 2020 for the first time in over 30 years! Yes we actually love the break offered by working on such special commissions such as house numbers and family home titles.

NGS have our own Shoreditch Vernacular type styles, and Heritage Grade II font ranges here.
Our costs are generally in the mid range, meaning we win most of our signwriting enquiries.

CAN YOU DESIGN THE SIGNS AND GRAPHICS?
Yes we offer a design service.
We produce layouts, technical drawings, editing existing logos and typography based design. We also offer custom type and font design service to the brand industry.
We include the cost of full signage and design layouts as standard, prior to production and we can design the look of the sign to suit all your needs.
HOW LONG WILL THE SIGN LAST?
We use the industry standard signwriting enamels and we also have products that add durability for difficult surfaces.
Most of the surfaces we work on are prepared by the client decorating teams and we always supply after care information and usually endorse durability of our lettering between 15-25 years.
